What is RealTyger?
by danihernanz
RealTyger is the new product from the minds at RealEspace (see RealEspace Launching Soon), led by Jeff Corbett, The XBroker. Both will be launching next week at Real Estate Connect.
So what is it? In a recent blog post, Jeff reveals it is:
An exclusive online real estate community, or social network, by Professionals for Consumers.
Sounds an awful lot like ActiveRain…

RealEspace itself however, turns out to be a suite of tools and ‘dashboard’ package that will help real estate professionals manage all aspects of their web presence, Jeff gives us a sneak peak today of their “blog-site publishing platform and backend office manager”. Some of the features include:
- Post Editor
- Spread Sheets
- Feed Reader
- RateSpeed Mortgage Search Engine
- Video Listing Suite
- Listing Manager
- Listing Map Mash-Up with Multiple Layers of Information
- All SEO, all the time…
Definitely an intriguing product mix. It seems RealEspace and RealTyger are lining up themselves up to be the single destination for web-bound real estate practitioners.
RealEspace is heading squarely into a very crowded marketplace; Point2NLS, Incredible Agent and VREO (among many) already do much of what is being promised.
That said, few of these vendors tie it all up nicely into a single experience for an agent and if RealTyger and RealEspace perform as hoped, then they stand a chance of cornering a good chunk of the market.
Only a week to go till we see the whole package. Until then, we’ll see about getting some Beta invites for FOREM readers. Throw your name down in the comments, if you’re interested.

To explain the social side of this site: We intend to open up the free social network aspect of RealTyger to the community through invites to top bloggers (top producers or top real estate bloggers within their farms). These select professionals will get the cache of tools we offer for free just for providing quality content to our social network and will beta test all our new products. The difference between AR and the social aspect of RealTyger will be that not all real estate professionals will be selected to write for this network. RealTyger has sent out priority invitations to the top 1,000 real estate bloggers across the country and will only accept additional bloggers that have a proven track record of writing quality consumer focused content. No more than 5 professionals will be selected for each farm area so the network can guarantee lead generation for their exclusive members while maintaining the highest quality of local and real estate content for the consumer. Hope that explains our social component better.

We appreciate the recognition Joel.
As you can imagine, we’ve done our homework and feel our solution is the most comprehensive, least intrusive platform out there for both professionals and as a result, consumers (you’ll here me say that a lot).
I’m excited and proud of the technology that will drive both the social network and individual end-user sites…I’ll leave it to our CTO for the geek speak, but I will say that our platform uses a mix of hybrid-like languages, unlike anything else out there…it allows us to perform some pretty incredible tasks

Thanks for the positive nod. I’d like to say that we take your opinions and comments very seriously and welcome any feedback that you may have.
If you come to Inman, look for our conference room where we will be hosting demonstrations, Q&A and accepting RSVP’s to RealTyger. Look for the bouncers in the RealTyger security shirts or myself and we will give you a tour and will be taking wish list requests for future functionality.
Since Jeff threw the thread my way, I thought I would explain some features that I find interesting.
We have developed a custom framework called Canons to handle all the processing in RealTyger/RealEspace. Canons is the result of four years of development by six programmers that have worked for companies like Sony, Ford Motor Credit, Exxon/Mobile and others.
Geek speak on:
* Drag and drop interface
* Live search features like Google Suggest
* Mapping interfaces that display layered demographic data
* Fully AJAX’d interface
* Extensible windowed environment
* Integrated Instant Messaging to keep you connected to your clients
* Offline processing.
Yes, you can actually write documents and blog posts while not connected to the Internet and synchronize them with your site when you get back online. I will be using this feature to blog while we travel to Inman.
Oh, and many of the features in the screenshot can be used in the social network known as RealTyger so you can give the people that visit your site some really cool tools to help them research their next house or mortgage.
While Canons and other elements of RealTyger and RealEspace were developed entirely in-house many key members of our team are active contributors to opensource projects. Our donations include writing code, distributing tools, documenting projects and giving money and hardware to help the people that do much for so little. Next time you see one of those donate badges on your favorite opensource sites, give them something for all of their hard work. After all, we don’t work for free so why should they.
BTW - All of the above comments were written by the highly biased CTO of RealEspace & RealTyger.

I have to say, that although it is a lot like Active Rain, it is still very unique and I really LOVE the name! Thanks so much for sharing!

Well, that looks really interesting! Talk about creating a platform with modular pieces. From what it looks like, this makes it really simple to bring in new features and phase out others without changing the structure of the application entirely.
Jeff/John/Mary - congrats! I’m looking forward to seeing it in action soon.

Talk about timing. Last night I was sitting with a legal pad outlining everything that I was doing to market a new listing online. From listing on my multiple blogs, to creating a vflyer, to tweaking the post on Craiglist and Google Base, to getting it ready for a video on WellcomeMat, to listing on our main site, to enhancing the Realtor.com, etc. etc. etc.
How cool would it be to have an interface that kept all of this straight!!!
I would love an invite if one is available.

I don’t believe we need another social network like active rain or even a slight version of it. Active Rain could be done better, but I don’t see the agent users getting on board with another network. It would have to be far superior than Active Rain to gain any traction.
I’d like to see everything before I put my 2 cents in, but from the screenshot it looks like a software package for Realtors. What does it all tie into? Is there a front end to this?
There are some items I can definitely think of that are missing that a Realtor needs to manage everything. We’ll see if they deliver. Hopefully, I’ll get to see it in action at Inman. That’s only if I don’t get kicked out by the bouncers. :*)
Congrats on the launch and we’ll see you in SF.

In. Agent:
“It would have to be far superior than Active Rain to gain any traction.”
You are very correct. We have studied AR (and the others) quite extensively.
“it looks like a software package for Realtors.”
Generally, yes. Although we have a package for mortgage professionals as well.
“What does it all tie into? Is there a front end to this?”
Yes, of course. Custom built SEO’d websites that can be populated with the applications you create and we offer in the Backend. Our front end sites will soon feature a navigational interface that incorporates aspects of the modular pieces you see in the screen shots with traditional web layouts.
“There are some items I can definitely think of that are missing that a Realtor needs to manage everything.”
You’ve only seen the superficial. Since our platform is 100% scaleable, I’d love to hear what you would like to see. Chances are, your timely wishes may be granted.
We’ll stick you on the VIP list…drop my name at the door

Very interesting…seems like another player that will hopefully be different than the rest of them and do something different. I’d be interested in checking it out pre-launch.
Btw…I’m in Northern Virginia (Loudoun County) if you need any assistance in this area.

I used Point2NLS for a while but it is way too clunky and limited. Pricey too. I certainly would love a beta invite!
Cheers!

I would love an invite. I sent Mary a note over at RSSPieces, but so far no response. I’d like to think I’m in the top 1000 RE bloggers nationally..
