W3 Awards Highlight Real Estate Sites

Looking for design inspiration for your real estate site? The W3 Awards are judged by the International Academy of the Visual Arts and presented each year to the best sites, videos and marketing programs on the Net. From their site:

The W³ Awards honors creative excellence on the web, and recognizes the creative and marketing professionals behind award winning sites, videos and marketing programs. Simply put, the W³ is the first major web competition to be accessible to the biggest agencies, the smallest firms, and everyone in between. Small firms are as likely to win as Fortune 500 companies and international agencies.

This year the awards in the real estate category went to the following sites.

Zillow.com
www.zillow.com

Verandah by Bonita Bay Group

Bankside 123

The Racquet Club of Palm Springs

Past Gold winners have included Foreclosure.com and Toll Brothers.

Also congratulations to BlueRoof.com for snagging a Silver award as well. More on BlueRoof Blog.

Hmm…lots of flash. Let’s remember this is a design award, not a usability award. The Hamlet at Saint James did have some interesting video use.

I agree this is a design award- if it were a usability award I think BlueRoof would have received a gold award- most of award winners in real estate are home developments and the sites are very heavy on animation and flash, but have horrible UI’s.

The best sites are designed so a first-time user can navigate them easily and find what they want, plus enjoy the process.

I know this is a design award but can’t we have a non flashed out site place? There’s gotta be a few sites out there that look good and aren’t 100% in Flash.
