Using vFlyer to Social Market Your Listings

vFlyer, the classified flyer a.k.a. single property website, has released a slew of features recently including video and the ability to put your listings on your site through a widget (see vFlyers Lets You Put Listings on Your Blog). They’re now offering a limited time discount and an opportunity to customize their widgets for 25 lucky participants.
From an email I received today:
We are piloting a custom widget program for the next 30 days. We are offering a custom flash or javascript widget for just $249. This program is offered to those that have either a monthly or annual business subscription. This is limited to the first 25 orders. If interested in learning more, email customwidget@vflyer.com.Also for the next 14 days, we are offering a 20% discount on annual subscriptions. The referral code for this offering is “widget20annual“.
This is an interesting offer and reasonably priced, in my opinion. Especially to have a widget branded exclusively to a brokerage or personal brand identity.
Widgets give you an opportunity to test vFlyer as a listings management application that allows a Realtor to take their listings with them anywhere they have a presence online; that could be a MySpace profile, personal blog or ActiveRain account, or virtually anywhere else that allows placement of embed code.
One daily challenge I’ve found, is keeping up my presence on each of these social networks. It’s incredibly time consuming. But I don’t necessarily want to abandon any of them.
A widget would help feed new content to all my profiles without me having to manually maintain my profiles.
There’s also obvious marketing advantage for Realtors to having their listings attached to all of their social networking profiles. But far from simply finding new eyeballs and/or new buyers; being able to tell a home owner that you can market their home through these social networks might be a significant point of differentiation that may help Realtors secure new listings.
If anyone takes vFlyer up on their offer of a custom widget, let me know. I’ll blog about the result in a future post and post the widget on this site.

Great Post. I have bookmarked VFlyer and will test it out … Overall this blog has been an great inspiration.
We do work the other way around. First we collect and or produce all the content. Pictures; description; details; youtube clips; … Then we post it on our blog and only after posting it we start creating buzz on the social media. Digg it; stumbleupon it; bookmark it on del.icio.us. All the new listings also end up on MySpace; FaceBook etc through RSS apps … If its a special listing I might contact a few people on my LinkedIn account …
If I see someone who might be interested in the listing on Skype I might send them a short message and link on SKYPE
But new apps like vFlyer and PostLets are supposed to be time savers so I will give them a go and let know the outcome.
Have a nice day

I have used vflyer and postlets, and have had some success with Craigslist. I have also had some success with email flyers. I’ve used several over the years to announce Open Houses, New Listings, Price Reductions, etc. and have found that it does generate some interest. I guess the bottom line for me is, I’m OK spending $120 or so to market my listings if there’s a chance that it will be seen by an agent and result in the home being sold. When I get a listing I like to be able to tell my client that I’m going to send an email out to all the local agents announcing the new listing, and send several other emails out until their house is sold. I build it into my Marketing Plan that I give to my clients.
I’ve been using realtyemailflyers.com and have been pleased with the amount of calls I’ve received each time I send an email flyer out. They seem to have the largest distribution areas for the lowest price.
Good luck!
