TotalMove Makes It Easy to Relocate

OK, so you’ve found the home of your dreams on Trulia or you’ve successfully “Made Someone Move“. What comes next?

TotalMove might just be what you’re looking for. They aim to help homeowners prepare for the huge transition that moving entails.

At it’s core, TotalMove is a mashup of a number of different web properties; listings from oodle, agents from Homegain, neighborhood profiles from Turnhere, etc.

The site’s goal is to give consumers the same level of service corporate executives enjoy through professional relocation services. They provide a step-by-step approach to deal with all the small headaches that come with buying a new home; finding an agent to represent you, getting financing, arranging for movers, transferring utilities, that sort of thing.

But more than just giving consumers timely information and reams of checklists, TotalMove also provides free personal assistance from a call center staffed with full-time real estate coordinators. They promise their coordinators will act as personal moving concierges who can help guide you along at any stage of the process.

It’s this kind of melding of online/offline services that I believe consumers are looking for. People want information and data - but I think many still would like someone to hold their hand when it comes down to getting it done.

TotalMove’s revenue model is advertising based, and they also earn referrals from each of the vendors. This allows them to provide this service gratis to folks like you and me.

They also will private label the service for others, which make it a option for brokers looking to offer this service to all their clients.

Very familiar. About a year and half ago a company contacted me with the same premise. Online relocation with a high touch model. I’m not sure they’re still around, but every time I drive by their office it seems to be awfully quiet. I have yet to see a relocation company be able to make it work on the Internet. We’ll see how Total Move does.

Good resource and timely, as I am just now ramping up (and somewhat dreading).

Thanks for letting the rest of us know about this!

Seems like it would be a conflict of interest. How are they going to private label this to brokers if agents that subscribe to Home Gain are in some way included in the package?

    Hi John,

Might help if I clarified how it works. HomeGain is essentially just an advertiser on our site (we’re a HomeGain affiliate). Customer can choose to use the HG service or our in-house TotalMove offering.

If you are interested in our TotalMove service offering, i.e. want our help through the process of finding an agent, getting a mortgage, moving etc - then we refer you to our own national network of brokers/agents.

On the private label front, we offer our service to large strategic partners who want to offer it to their customers. But at this stage, not to Real Estate brokers (although we’d probably consider that if we could do it in a way that allowed us to offer objective choice to the customer).

We are 100% dedicated to offering objective choice to our customers and avoiding any type of conflict.
