Reply! Launches… And Falls Flat On Its Face
Filed Under: Internet
Apparently $17 million can’t buy you a web site that works…
I spent some time this morning checking out the revamped Reply! site. Frankly, I am less than impressed - the site, as it currently stands, is unusable.
- Unresponsive Search Queries: I couldn’t, for the life of me, pull up the information on my house.
- Broken Design: Several pages had menu elements hanging under each other
- Database errors: Not being much of a database guru, I’m not sure what a VMWare error is - but it can’t be good.
Worst of all, Reply! crashed my browser three times, including wiping out the first draft of this post (I use the wonderful Performancing plugin for Firefox to compose most of my blog entries). This is inexcusable. Reply! gets a big old Future of Real Estate Marketing raspberry and three-finger salute for its efforts so far.

It caused my browser to freeze for a minute and then it didn’t work. It’s amazing that you can release something like that!

I didn’t have to go beyond two pages to see the site is not working as it should be. I entered my home address for a valuation, and the sytem told me their was to many homes to list. Compared to zillow.com, this site is a big ZERO. It’s possible their making upgrades, but why launch a site when its not working as good or even better than your competition. Maybe over time, it will improve.

The new Reply! web site (www.reply.com) was launched in Beta form the week of August 21, providing consumers with an exciting new portal for making major life-stage decisions, such as buying or selling a home, purchasing an automobile, and more.
We believe the new site offers the richest set of tools, information and analysis available anywhere to help make these big decisions — including automated valuations for almost 70 million homes, the ability to make Unsolicited Offers™ on homes, the ability to write personal reviews on homes and cars, and a rich repository of other valuable information
on virtually any neighborhood, home, or car in the country.
As you would expect from any major web destination, we are continuing to make significant improvements to optimize the performance and usability of our site. We also plan to add great new features, tools and content in the months ahead.
Consumers can expect an increasingly exciting and satisfying experience from Reply! each time they return.
