<!--%kramer-ref-pre%-->[...] Report on Inman News Blog quotes Redfin as hiring bloggers to write on specific neighborhoods. Here's what I think this means: An end run around REALTORs who are farming this neighborhoodMicro-market specific should yield good search resultsThey get paid $100-$200 a week and are not in the real estate business, so who gets to make money off this client? "The goal is to create an insanely addictive blog about everything that moves in Seattle real estate. We're hiring for neighborhoods all over Seattle, from Tacoma to Issaquah to Bainbridge Island. For your neighborhood, Redfin would send you all sorts of data on fixer-uppers, price reductions, properties that have been long on the market, new construction notices. Your job would be to tour new open houses, snap a few pics, and write up a review." I think the article eminates from Future of Real Estate Marketing who picked it up from Ubertor Real Estate Blog and also credit to Greg at BloodhoundOk now I feel kinda foolish, that was basically a full circle that is two months old news. I'll jump on the blog dashboard and look for Greg's original post, and associated comments. [...]<!--%kramer-ref-post%-->

<!--%kramer-ref-pre%-->[...] Thursday Redfin blogger army marching on SFYou didn't hear it here first: Redfin is hiring bloggers. You did hear it here first (perhaps?): Redfin is expanding a program in which it pays people to blog about for sale listings in Seattle into the San Francisco Bay Area. Joel Burslem at the Future of Real Estate Marketing wrote Nov. 29 about Redfin hiring bloggers through Craigslist ads to feed the company's Seattle blog (Ubertor Real Estate Blog was credited with breaking the news). Redfin CEO Glenn Kelman explained the project in a Dec. 6 post on his own blog, saying the company was "invading Seattle neighborhoods with a small army of real estate bloggers" to provide "eyewitness reviews of listings from all over town."Redfin got 300 applications from its Craigslist ad, Kelman said, and hired the seven "most clever writers out of the bunch, every single one as much of a real estate freak as we are," to cover Seatlle. "If it works," he promised "we'll expand to other cities, like San Jose, Oakland and San Francisco."Well, here's the Craigslist ad for San Jose, Oakland and San Francisco, posted Dec. 15. Redfin sends you data on fixer-uppers, price reductions, and properties that have been on the market a while. You tour open houses, snap pictures, and write up four to eight reviews a week. Compensation: $100 to $200 a week. Real estate agents need not apply. Watch for the results on Redfin's San Francisco blog (which, like the Seattle blog, has been up and running for six months).--Matt Carter, Inman News Comments: Post a Comment Links to this post: See links to this post posted by @ if (typeof BL_addOnLoadEvent == 'function') { BL_addOnLoadEvent(function() { BL_writeBacklinks(); }); } [...]<!--%kramer-ref-post%-->

> Well, the post title was meant to be somewhat tongue-in-cheek Greg.

Ah! I read more than was there. My apologies.

Actually, it might be cool to have tightly neighborhood-specific weblogs, like a cellular blog. Each one could feature its own content and side-blog syndicate nearby "cells". A comprehensive view would be difficult to obtain -- maybe hand-edited aggregator blogs -- but if there really is a hyper-local interest, then getting down to the level of a closely-shared-identity might work.

Well, the post title was meant to be somewhat tongue-in-cheek Greg. :) And I think your take is definitely possible, if not probable. My point was simply, questioning how they intend on branding the new blog, if it they mean it to be a brand new entity or part of their existing site.

I kinda think they might be better off having this as a separate entity - for some of the reasons I mentioned above.

Hmmm... Any chance you're seeing more than is there? When Stephen Jagger sent that ad to me, I read it as meaning that RedFin wanted a cheap way to get on-line property previews without incuring procuring cause problems. IOW, a virtual catalog of listings.
