My New Favorite Real Estate Ad
An advertisement from OptHome, a company that offers to “unbiasedly search all licensed agents to help you choose the one that is right for you.”
Let’s face it, this is every consumer’s worst nightmare when it comes to finding an agent and this ad taps right into that fear. No idea how effective the service is, but the ad is a winner in my books.

That’s Hilarious! Definitely a creadive ad….but I don’t know how Opthome would check the credentials, ethics and values of a real estate agent.

Great ad. I don’t know much about how they do what they say they do…however it sounds like a standard referral service.

Wow that ad is genius. I am sure it will be somewhat effective as it will get people talking about it.

They certainly understand agency disclosure.

to bad their website doesn’t let agents join. I tried signing up to see what this was about and get a page full of error messages when I hit submit. Tried it in both IE and Firefox.

I agree, it’s a great ad but the websites message seems unclear. In reviewing the site, its seems difficult for the consumer to know what they are supposed to do?
The ad mentions finding an agent yet the home page talks about being the “smartest homeowner on the block”? Appears the site is simply an agent referral service. I personally think consumers would be let down as their is no way to actually search for local agents.

Great ad. Too bad that their web site is not ready for prime time. Like others- I,too, got an error when I tried to register and check them out. it may be that all they can do is publish cute ads.

Has anyone realized that if you type in the URL on the fake business card that OptHome has actually gone as far as creating a fake website for this guy!! And to boot, I called what I thought was a “fake” phone number on the website and it is a spoof volicemail!!! You have to listen to it… Absolutely histerical!!!

I know him! That’s the same guy that took the tight frontal shot of his listing so you couldn’t see the three cars parked in the front yard of the house to the left, the pit bull on a chain in the yard to the right, and the cell phone tower in the backyard.

This ad is so classic. I tore it out of the most recent edition of Boston Magazine…couldn’t get it on the scanner fast enough!
Genius!

Unfortunately they cannot be unbiased as they claim, when in the fine print they declare: “OptHomeTM is a registered DBA of OptNow® Real Estate Corporation located in Southborough, MA. OptNow Real Estate Corporation is a licensed real estate brokerage in the state of Massachusetts and has several patented or patent pending processes” under their “About Us” -> “Who we Are” tabs (at the bottom of http://opthome.com/About/Default.aspx ), they cannot claim honestly to be independant of that industry and “report unbiastly” about their competition. They may be exactly what they claim to help new buyers to avoid.
