Google Maps adds Scroll Wheel Support

Google Maps has added support for your mouse’s scroll wheel, a feature I’ve long found lacking in their site. Microsoft’s Virtual Earth sites have had this feature for a while and after getting used to it, I always found it kind of annoying that I still had to use manual clicks to zoom in on GMaps. Their new implementation is pretty slick however, as it zooms into wherever your mouse cursor is on the map – rather than to the center of the page.

The feature is available on the newest version of the Google Maps API, so it’ll be interesting to see which of the GMaps driven Real Estate 2.0 roll out this feature first. Any bets?

I think Google Maps is an excellent way to move real estate and have been working on the code for some time. I have a couple issues with the sites I’ve seen and am looking at the next generation of Maps for Real Estate applications. I write code that sells houses instead of selling houses. I’m hoping to develop applications that help people sell real estate – here’s some comments from reading your blog:

    1. PPC – Click Fraud is a big deal which is why Google and others are spending so much money combatting it. It’s been very succesful for Real Estate Agents in my area (I have many clients)

    2. Maps – so much data that could be integrated and it’s my goal to be there

    3. Real Estate Agents in my area have had a hard time adapting to Web 2.0 concepts and my clients that apply them reap good dividends

Lastly – A question – What is the most powerful undeveloped tool for agents….I wanna write the code

    Sincerely,
