Getting the Most from Adwords

Techcrunch is reporting that Google is launching a new beta program for webmasters or web site publishers who have AdWords accounts. Website Optimizer is designed to allow you to design different versions of your landing page, which will get served up randomly to visitors entering your site through the AdWords keywords you’ve bought.

The idea is that you’ll be able to see which versions results in the most activity and therefore, the highest number conversions from your ad buys.

I’ve signed up to be part of the beta and I think this would be a very useful tool for any Realtor either currently running AdWords promotions or actively considering Pay-Per-Click (PPC) advertising. Though I’m not running any PPC campaigns right now (this blog gets pretty good SEO results on its own) I’d be very interested in seeing what results anyone who is, has with this program.

Personally, I still think it’s more effective to concentrate on developing highly placed organic search results through good content and effectively linking strategies. Though supplementing that with a few Long Tail Adwords couldn’t hurt, I suppose.

To that end, HitTail is another beta optimization service I’ve been playing around with lately. HitTail analyzes the content you post on your web site or blog and suggests underused keywords for you to buy as part of your marketing campaign. Interesting concept, though it remains to be seen if it works in practice.

PPC (particularly Google AdWords) is a great way to test keywords to see both precisely what people type (mining web server logs while running a PPC campaign is often better than any keyword research tool). This can then be fed into SEO. Or, if the PPC spend is yielding a positive ROI, use both PPC and SEO. Since SEO efforts can have a long lag time, it helps to use the quick feedback from PPC campaigns. Just something to consider. ;-)

    Can anyone give me ideas…
I have been using adwords to promote my online business websites. I almost never see any results. I think the most amount of traffic i have recieved from adwords is 5 unique visitors in a whole month. Is there anyother good ppc options besides google where i will get better exposure of my website.

I will tell you, Hittail works big time. I have been using it for the past 9-12 months, I started with about 3-4 organic leads per day, I am literally getting between 8-15 organic leads per day now no my website.

Now, hittail is not an instant fix, it will take time, you need to be committed to this for at least 6 months for you to start seeing results, but it has worked very well for us so far.

Google adwords also works. Here is the key: You need a good site people hit for them to sign up. Take a look at my website at http://www.myindianapolishome.com for examples of signup pages I have. I spend about $400/month on adwords, but easily get at least 80-90 leads per month out of it.
