As people continue to migrate to cities and commutes become more expensive, more people will learn the true lesson of our current mortgage crisis: Millions of families would be better off financially by renting instead of buying.
(Hmmm… I sense a bias)
Redfin and other online housing brokers able to charge a lower commission than a brick and mortar outfit stand to see geometric volume gains. A full 80% of people currently start a house hunt online, and the lure of a 50% to 66% reduction in commission is strong.
Glenn Kelman must be overjoyed. Now here’s a doozy.
A city will enclose a significant portion of its downtown from the elements, and it will happen in Texas. They have the land, and in 2017 they will have even more oil money. There’s already a significant underground tunnel city in Houston, meaning they have the know-how. If global warming makes Texas any hotter, such a move would make a lot of sense.
Bring on the flying cars too! Are you ready Houston?
