Do you like bagels?
From the minds over at MySpaceTV, real estate marketing strategies straight from The Chad.
Oh, and there’s more too if you can stomach it. Part 2 and Part 3.
On a more serious note - why is this stuff (mildly) amusing? I think it’s in large part because a lot of it hits too close to home.
I’m banging an old drum here, but over the last few years the industry has done a terrible job of communicating its value to consumers. Something 1000Watt Blog alludes to when they write:
Numerous articles, studies and voices are exposing the fissures in the solid ground of trust real estate once stood upon
That fissure of trust is what results in the perception and portrayal of agents as insensitive, loud-mouth buffoons.
A multi-million dollar ad campaign ain’t gonna help change that either, people. It’s up to the folks on the ground to put their best foot forward.
Today that’s easier than ever to do. A web 2.0 world lets anyone with laptop and an internet connection seize control of the message. So just do it. Events like the BloodhoundBlog Unchained Conference and others can you get the tools and knowledge you need to combat this misconception and help right many years of wrongs. So just do it.
It’s not too late to turn this thing around - but it’s going to take commitment, honesty, professionalism, oh — and maybe a sense of humor.

“Is that an eagle tatoo on your arm? Because I’m like an eagle soaring through the sky.”
This is hilarious….until we realize that what Chad is doing is not so far removed from what Realtors do all day long.

Joel - I saw that video when it came out and still laugh about it when I see it again. You are right it does hit too close to home

is this guy SERIOUS?!?!? is this a real agent or just an actor? i would certainly never do business with an idiot like that if he’s an agent … he’s too full of b.s. for me and who would want their house handled by that kind of act?
whatever happened to professionalism in real estate?

I think he is serious Mike.
I doubt he’s an agent or an actor. My guess is he is one of many people who feel, for whatever reason, compelled to create satire about the industry and the participants within it.
What ever happened to professionalism in real estate? I think the point of this Mike is that in The Chad mind, there aren’t any or if there are they are overshadowed by this caricature that dominates the newspapers, websites., etc with overzealous capture techniques.
One hand, this piece is very funny but not because The Chad is funny but rather, he seems to really have captured to some degree, albeit exaggerated slightly, the antics of many in our business.

What a baffoon!
The Chad is right up there with Shaun McLane and his parade of starlet-harlets promoting his brokerage. Shaun was fired for his attempt at notarity and The Chad needs his balloons taken away and have the sweater burned.
Forrest would tell you that “life is a box of chocolates” and “stupid is as stupid does”.
Good thing there is still a lot of oxygen left and professionals can walk on the other side of the street.

Funny… absolutley. “The Chad” is putting in a lot of effort, although these people are certainly not targeted. “If” he is real he should put his real estate marketing efforts into something that is more targeted.
Cheers,
John

Its unfortunate, but I believe he is serious. Professionalism still exists though in a majority of the industry.
