I had an opportunity recently to speak with Jeff Bernheisel (@JBern) who is the the Marketing Director for M Realty in Portland. Jeff has a proven track record for Search Engine Optimization results for his company when it comes to VERY competitive search terms like “Portland Real Estate”.

Jeff has built several websites that dominate Google including one that was dedicated to the ever popular Angry Birds game! In less than 5 months he ranked the site in the top 5 results of Google for the search term “Angry Birds”, in the process generating 20,000-30,000 hits a day!

I wanted Jeff to share in our interview some of his best SEO tips and how agents can achieve comparable results in their own market.

My takeaway? Content and links are king.

Wishing all FOREM readers a very happy holiday season.

2008 was one of the busiest years on this blog. Traffic keeps growing month by month and RSS readership recently cracked the 5K mark. Thank you to all visitors for your feedback, comments and questions.  Heck I’ll even take the occasional insult every once and a while too.

With the year winding down I’m going to take some time off blogging here to attend to friends and family (and, frankly, get away from the computer and do some snowboarding) but I expect to be back at it in the new year. I’m gearing up for Real Estate Connect and REBarCamp in New York City, so I expect there to be lots to talk about.

I hope to see many of you there.

Ephesus Library by Ozan™

I’m off for two weeks to Turkey – with jaunts from the Aegean Sea to the Bosporus. I’m looking forward to soaking up everything from antiquity sites like Ephesus and Troy to the hustle and bustle of Istanbul (not Constantinople).

FOREM’s going into repeats while I’m gone and I’ll be highlighting some of my favorite posts over the last year.

Just in time for the holidays…

Fan restores ‘Christmas Story’ house

Jones has restored the three-story, wood-frame house to its appearance in the movie and will open it for tours beginning Saturday. His hope is that it will become a tourist stop alongside the city’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and other destinations.
