Boost your Internet Connection Speed

This was so impressive, I’ve double posted it here. From my personal blog, joel.burslem.ca:

I’m usually pretty skeptical of ways to boost your Internet connection, most that I’ve tried in the past have done very little. OpenDNS is different. It works. It works amazingly well.

If you connect to the ‘net via WiFi, all you have to do is change over your DNS servers on your router’s control panel to those provided by OpenDNS, reset and off you go. It took about a minute to change over and what a change indeed. I was completely shocked how much faster pages loaded on my iMac. OpenDNS even has anti-phishing and domain name correction built right it (you type .og instead of .org and it’ll redirect you automatically).

Try it for yourself and see.

I tried this starting earlier today… and everything seemed to be working fine for a while, but I’ve started to get some wierd errors on pages that I know are working. Also… some pages seem to be really fast, but others are crawling.

I guess I’m just noticing some strange behaviour from some sites. wierd

This does work great! Justin the speed differences you are noticing might be due to the reason that you are accessing pages that are not in openDNS cache. However, overall sites do load noticeably quicker, in my opinion. Great post.
