And the Best Real Estate Website is…

Congrats to Redfin for being named one of 50 Best Websites 2007 and the Best Real Estate Website by Time Magazine. Looks like they’re organizing a kick ass party to celebrate. (How’s about an invite, guys?)
Other sites named were ZipRealty, BuySide Realty, Cyberhomes, Zillow and PropertyShark.
All questions about their business model aside, Redfin unquestionably has one of the best real estate search sites out there, though limited in its national reach by the markets they serve. Kudos to their engineers and design team for coming up with a great product.
If only they could work as hard on that logo. I still can’t figure it out.

Person looking at many houses finds the right one (the red one) on Redfin, what’s not to understand. Well, the name I don’t get.

While Redfin has a nice real estate search website, ours is certainly as innovative, informative and fast:
http://www.movoto.com
We only cover California at this time though.

Henry, I like Movoto.com also, but from the main page do a home search for 94134. you need to limit your results per query or use smaller icons. This has always been my one comment about movoto…the clustered icons.
Other then that I really like your site.

Best real estate website? I don’t know about that. It’s nice, but I would say they are probably commenting on their business model more than their website or they didn’t really try too hard to find anything better.

I’m the engineering lead on the search team at Redfin. Thanks for the kind words, and please continue to let us know where and how we can do better!

Redfin’s site does work very well and they deserver the award.
Henry, your Movoto site has some decent mapping features, but sorry, it’s nowhere in the league of Redfin. I actually found the search a little confusing, but after studying the site for awhile, I did figure it out. Also, a list of properties, not just the map, would be nice. Am I missing that somewhere? Your detail page has some great stuff, like the school comparison.
I’d be interested to see what people think of my site, http://www.hawaiilife.com. I think we have some good ideas as far as layout and mapping go.

They have a great site. But its just so slow to load. I have a pretty quick connection and I can notice it. Plus all these new online discount companies are just getting way to much attention. I hope its will pass.
