Facebook is great for networking. I've seen real estate agents utilize Facebook in order to invite people to networking events and even posting info and pictures about deals they are working on.

Hanover Companies is the nation's primary choice for real estate and investment property. Hanover revealed the GO Opportunity Zone (GO Zone). Hanover Companies are the real estate biggest dealers for GO Zone. Hanover companies have the best selection of GO Zone properties accessible all around the country. When buying a GO Zone property you will get a 50% reduction from the I.R.S. When you are a customer at Hanover companies, you are not buying from a broker that wants commission. Hanover companies are not brokers.

I had a chuckle when reading this comment from above.

"Joel… this is just a smart post. I’ve been on facebook for a few weeks, testing. It has some great potential."

Your premonition was correct.

No one had an idea that facebook would become this popular. It is absolutely insane how fast they grew. I can remember thinking "I already have enough accounts to keep up with" so I didnt sign up in the beginning.

I just found it humorous looking back.

Why is it that all the replies are folks advertising their apps (for sale!) to use social networks... and no one just laying down actual success rates and Return of Investment for money / time spent trolling FB to sell houses?

you can't BUILD business on social networks, but you can maintain market presence and consumer loyalty.

Friend your clients.
The *broker* should have an office group for all the agents to network and invite clients to join.. and pepper in actual real-world events folks can attend to not make it just a forgettable advertising feed... the network grows stronger with many mutual interest agents, and by feeding off of each other's events of success and actual (legitimate) social activity; the group is not annoying.

Also: minimize official shout outs and spam ommercials to only 1 / week. Daily group messages result in loss of members.

Hae a social event at LEAST 1 / month... if not 2/ month. Don'
t invite anyone to the group without talking to them in person first about the social event.. not real estate, not the group, not facebook... the EVENT. yes or no; ask them if they are on FB. if they are, let em know you'll drop em a reminder to (or; in case they want to) attend the EVENT. they will leave the group as is on a weekly basis if you don't just spam commercial garbage.

in summary: google owns anyone searching for a home... but FB will help keep your clients friends. Anyone who claims otherwise is selling an app/group.

Can you talk about using the personal vs business facebook accounts for real estate agents. It is my understanding that you should not promote your business on the personal facebook accounts and that there may even be an issues with Facebook's terms of use? It looks like there is a LOT more functionality to promote your business with the "fan" facebook account.

Social Media has certainly changed the face of business if we realize it or not. One thing to keep in mind when on these sites is not to abuse your peers. No one likes constant self promotion with no value.
