Help Plan My Trip to Inman Connect NYC

As some of you might already know, I’ve been invited to moderate a panel at Inman Connect in New York in January (see FOREM at Connect NYC).
I’m pretty excited about the opportunity, but three things occurred to me recently as I was thinking about this trip.
- I’m flying solo to the conference.
- I’ve never been to New York.
- I don’t know a soul east of the Rockies.
So, rather than rely on outdated travel guides or dig anonymously through message boards, I’ve decided to tap into the wisdom of the crowds and the generosity of the real estate blogosphere and “open source” my trip.
I’ve also been meaning to explore some of the hosted wiki solutions for a long time, and this seemed like the perfect opportunity.
Using Wetpaint.com, I’ve created a publicly editable wiki for my NYC trip itinerary and I’m hoping you can all help me flesh it out.
It’s hosted at futureofrealestate.wetpaint.com. Check it out. Anyone can edit the page. Tell me where I should eat. Give me some suggestions on what I should see.
Some things that are finalized:
- I fly in Saturday morning, so the weekend before Inman is open
- I’m staying at the Marriott Marquis
- I plan on attending as many of the Inman events as possible
The rest – well, it’s open.
I’ve already had some requests to meet up and I definitely want to meet in person my fellow real estate bloggers or any representatives from the companies I write about (or should write about).
So if you’re a blogger, a Realtor or even a vendor and want to grab a bite to eat, go for a beer, catch a Rangers game, go shopping, heck even pick me up from the airport (I fly into JFK), throw your name down under one of the open days and let’s hook up.
For anyone else in a similar position as me, hopefully this page can serve as a way to get some group events planned.
Thanks!

Ugh, Jealous….
Sounds like a fun trip to begin with, and I’m sure you’ll get to meet a lot of great people using the wetpaint idea.
Take care,
Jeff

Hey Joel, have you thought about setting up one of those evenings as a Blogger-Meetup? I’ll be there, and would like to do something like that.

Great Idea Erik! How about Sunday night for any bloggers that are in town early? Can plan our strategies for dealing with the conference etc…
I’ve penciled it in to the wiki for Sunday night. Anyone who want to meet up throw your name down on the list!

Though I won’t be able to make it to the conference next month, I wanted to say congratulations on being a moderator!
And great idea Erik! Hopefully, I’ll be at the next one and be able to meet you guys in person.

The wiki was a great idea, we’ll definetely have to meet up at some point during the conference. Still trying to figure out my flight schedule, before I know details.

Joel – listen, you will not even need to schedule as much at you think you need to. This is Manhattan – there is SO much to do here, there is a resturaunt/pub/deli, etc on every corner or every street. Just relax – we are not as scary as we seem. I will be in the city on Tuesday..

Beer with Bloggers is taking shape for Sunday night pre-conference. Anyone going to be in town, you’re welcome to come meet up with us. Head on over to the wiki and throw your name down on the list. Christine, Sellsius can you guys make it?
Still looking for some suggestions of where we can host it!
