Beth, I am with you. this has got to be some kind of racket, some low dirty crap going on here. I've been trying to negotiate a loan mod for 6+ mos. directly through my bank and now with the help of a nat'l non-profit group. All of a sudden my house and two others in my neighborhood with larger lots are all of a sudden showing outrageous value increases. While the rest of the neighborhood is stagnate with mildly dropping values. All that bailout money the banks got must be ending up in Zillows pocket 'cause I can't get no love.

I would love to talk with the person who owns Zillow.com. I cannot understand how this site works. I am a Real Estate Agent & appraiser. My own home cannot have the loan modification since zillow.com has decided (how?) to make a price tag on my home of $292,500. The house next door is $192,000 and has been on the market for 4 months for $175,000, still not sold. I CANNOT GET A MODIFICATION SINCE ZILLOW SCREWED ME. WHO DO I NEED TO TALK TO FOR A FIX

[...] Zillow.com got itself a ton of new venture capital yesterday, so today seems like a fine time to deconstruct its praxis. [...]

Zillow has done it again. Their ads are from Google, their pictures are from Pictometry through MSN, they supply Yahoo! with their home valuation data, their loan offers are made through LendingTree [owned by Barry Diller of IAC (InterActive Corp) who owns Ask.com and owned Expedia which was developed by Richard Barton, the CEO of Zillow] and now they have more VC money while they make money from the Google ads. Yesterday in an article titled "Avoid Paranoia, Embrace Innovation" in Inman News, Robert Butters, Esq cautions Realtors not to be paranoid, but accept and use the new technology. In my post I jokingly diagnosed "Zillonoia", but now I'm not so sure it's a joke. How soon will it be before we "Zillow" a house, just like we "Google" a term? How soon before "to Zillow" is a verb just like "to Google"? And Zillow has done this with almost all organic search ranking, not paid ranking or advertising. Maybe there really is a GodZillow, a sea monster rising from Puget Sound to eat up our adverting budgets. How soon before all the Zestimates and Zindexes are turned into Zillions?
